    BRANDENBURG — Wed-nesday night was full of drama for the Meade County 10-year-old All-Stars.

    After staving off a comeback by the Elizabethtown Area Baseball Commission All-Stars in Game 1 in the District 10 tournament, Meade County scored eight runs in the first two innings en route to an 8-3 win in Game 2 of the best-of-three series at Ramsey Field.

    Meade County, which earned an automatic berth to the West Kentucky State tournament with the wins, batted around in the top of the first as it built a 6-0 lead.

    Lauren Hartlage didn’t start off her nine-hole round Wednesday the best possible way.

    Hartlage, a St. James School sixth-grader, had lessons to help straighten out her swing Tuesday. She drove the ball well early Wednesday from the driving range, but proceeded to open play at the Kentucky Junior Amateur with a double bogey on the first hole at Bardstown Country Club’s Maywood Course.
