  • PREP FOOTBALL: John Hardin...

The John Hardin Bulldogs heard the entire preseason about how difficult their schedule was this season and how they wouldn’t do as well.

The Bulldogs took that as a challenge and they wanted to issue a statement, and unfortunately for the Lexington Henry Clay Blue Devils, it came at their expense.

John Hardin scored on its first six possessions as the Bulldogs hammered Henry Clay, 56-6 on Friday night in the Don Franklin Bowl at Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia.

It was Central Hardin’s invitational Saturday at Fort Knox’s Lindsey Golf Course, but it was a North Hardin junior duo that did the celebrating.

Lydia Gumm went 4-under to win the Lady Bruin Invitational by five strokes, while Sara Crutcher treated herself with a season-low 90 to finish as the area’s No. 2 individual.

  • PREP FOOTBALL: Meade County...

SHELBYVILLE — Meade County senior Thomas Wilson is considered one of the state’s top dual-threat quarterbacks. As it turns out, buddies John Clark and Brady Smith are pretty good at doing things different ways, too.

Clark scored one touchdown on special teams and another rushing and Smith had a third-quarter interception to set up his go-ahead receiving touchdown less than a minute later as the visiting Green Wave rallied for a 33-25 season-opening win Friday over the Collins Titans at Shelby County High School’s Robert Doyle Stadium.

  • FOOTBALL FRIDAY UPDATE: John...

The John Hardin Bulldogs made sure two streaks continued Friday night.

The 50-point margin of victory was John Hardin’s largest in a season opener.
