  • PREP FOOTBALL: Meade County...

Stephen Compton was brutally honest after practice Wednesday afternoon as the Meade County senior lineman admitted things aren’t quite so rosy in Brandenburg.

Meade County started 2-0, but the Green Wave have struggled offensively in back-to-back setbacks to two of the top teams in Class 5-A in John Hardin and Warren Central. With a road game looming tonight with the unbeaten Jeffersontown Chargers (3-0), the Green Wave (2-2) are looking to get their swagger back – and get back into the win column.

  • BOYS' PREP SOCCER: John...

Alex Shearer was pleased with his team’s first-half performance Thursday night, but John Hardin’s veteran coach was waiting for his squad to knock out Elizabethtown after letting the visiting Panthers hang around.

One banged-up Bulldog was more than happy to oblige.

Junior Alex Higdon had one goal and one assist in the final 15 minutes as the Bulldogs pulled away from the Panthers, 4-1, in a critical 10th District game in terms of John Hardin’s bye hopes for the postseason tournament next month at Central Hardin.

  • GIRLS' PREP SOCCER: Elder...

Brittany Carter dropped her right hand down to around her knee when the John Hardin coach talked about how tall Catherine Greenwell, Macy Higdon and Hannah Howard were when the three current Lady Bulldog standouts started playing together.

The trio’s camaraderie was on display Wednesday night at 10th District rival Meade County as they amassed all of their team’s goals and assists in a 4-1 win over the host Lady Waves.

  • PREP SOCCER ROUNDUP: Lady Bruins...

The fourth-ranked Central Hardin Lady Bruins kept rolling right along in a 10-1 win over host North Bullitt on Wednesday.

Junior midfielder Haley Ennis notched a hat trick, while senior strikers Sam Donahue and Lauren Norton each scored twice for the Lady Bruins (11-1), who scored 10 goals for the second straight game – and fourth this season.

  • PREP FOOTBALL: Bulldogs need...

John Hardin coach Mark Brown is opposed to off weeks. In fact, the veteran coach despises them. Brown usually likes to play 10 straight weeks, opting not to have one.

That’s not the case this season as the second-ranked Bulldogs will be off this weekend.

  • BASEBALL: Velocity is taking off...

Most Hardin County sports fans are aware of Stevie Delabar’s rapid rise through the Seattle Mariners’ organization this season. Delabar was a substitute teacher and coaching baseball at John Hardin prior to the Major League season beginning.

  • PREP FOOTBALL: E'town...

Elizabethtown football coach Adam Billings thinks that born leader mantra is garbage.

In his mind, leaders aren’t born into the role. They’re made.
