    Caleb Tarrence struck out five in the complete-game win and staked his team to an early lead with a two-run home run in the top of the first inning Wednesday. And he helped the Elizabethtown Area Baseball Commission Red All-Stars roll past Louisville Fern Creek, 12-2 in four innings in the second winners’ bracket quarterfinal of the Under-12 Cal Ripken West Kentucky State Tournament at the University Drive Ballpark.

    Tarrence allowed just two hits and one walk.

    Elizabethtown’s Lauren Hartlage shot a 75 and was the only area player to win a division as the Pepsi Junior Golf Tour stopped Wednesday at Elizabethtown Country Club.

    The first six hitters for the Elizabethtown Area Baseball Commission Red All-Stars had consecutive hits in the bottom of the first inning Sunday as EABC Red rolled to a 13-0 four-inning mercy-rule win over Meade County in the championship game of the Cal Ripken District 7 Tournament at Sonny Chaput Field in Elizabethtown.

    Elizabethtown finished with 15 hits, including three homers in its seven-run third inning.

  • YOUTH BASEBALL: EABC Red to meet...

    Matt Coolidge, Zach McKinney and Caleb Tarrence combined for a three-inning one-hitter and the Elizabethtown Red 12-year-old All-Stars erupted for 12 runs in the first inning en route to a 16-0 win over Elizabethtown White on Saturday in the Cal Ripken District 7 Tournament.

    Coolidge and McKinney each struck out one, while Tarrence struck out two of the three batters he faced at Sonny Chaput Field in Elizabethtown.
