    If there’s one thing LaRue County’s Mielle DiStefano would like to learn as a high school softball coach, it would have to be winning rain-interrupted region tournament games.

    Last season, DiStefano’s Lady Hawks had Central Hardin on the ropes in the 5th Region Tournament at Hart County before a storm halted the game. When play finally resumed, Central Hardin rallied, going on to win the tournament and advancing to the second day at State.

    Central Hardin coach Todd Thompson gave the Bruins a day off during the preseason, but several Bruins still showed up after school, wanting to take batting practice.

    It’s that type of attitude that helped Central Hardin reach new heights last season, winning the program’s first 5th Region Tournament championship.

    Mark Martin knows his Central Hardin Lady Bruins have gone from the hunter to the hunted.

    And they should expect as much.

    Last year, the Lady Bruins caught fire in the postseason behind the pitching of Kristina Krupinski and used the momentum to win the 5th Region Tournament, advance to the second day of the state tournament and finish with a 26-15 record.
