  • PREP SPORTS OPINION: Ryan O...

When I moved to Elizabethtown in April 2013, I didn’t know a single person in the area. Not one. Moving from the Chicago suburbs, where I had lived my entire life, I wasn’t sure to expect.

    Sounds scary, right?

  • BOYS' PREP HOOPS ROUNDUP:...

Freshman forward Mickey Pearson scored 16 points to help the visiting John Hardin Bulldogs run away from 5th Region rival Washington County, 61-31 on Tuesday.

Sophomore guard Kyshawn Scarborough and freshman guard Anthony Witherspoon each scored eight, while junior guard Matt Miller added seven.

  • GIRLS' PREP HOOPS ROUNDUP:...

It only took four players scoring for the Meade County Lady Waves to beat the defending state champions Tuesday night.

Senior guard Morgan Turner had 26 points and 12 rebounds as the homestanding Lady Waves upset second-ranked Louisville Butler, 53-50.

  • BOYS' PREP HOOPS: Central...

Central Hardin thought the Adair County Indians were no longer visible in its rear-view mirror at home Tuesday night and the Bruins went on cruise control a little bit too soon.

  • BOYS' PREP HOOPS: North...

The North Hardin Trojans wanted to have a good time Tuesday night to send their seniors out in style. Before the fun could start, though, they had to buckle down and take care of the business at hand.

The Trojans built a 13-point lead less than 4 minutes into the game, but the Green County Dragons turned the tables on them to cut the lead to 17-13 after the first quarter.

  • REGION 2 WRESTLING TOURNAMENT:...

It took 33 years for the North Hardin Trojans to win another region wrestling tournament title.

Though they’ve been through a rough patch because of injuries this season, it’s a spot the Trojans aren’t willing to relinquish just yet.

  • GIRLS' PREP HOOPS: Coleman...

With North Hardin’s do-it-all guard Tamiah Stanford sitting out Monday night at Fort Knox, an opportunity opened up for sophomore guard Sydney Coleman. Normally more of a spot-up shooter, she had the ball in her hands more often, and she took full advantage.

As a result, Coleman did something she had never done before: post a triple-double.

  • PREP HOOPS ROUNDUP: John Hardin...

Junior guard Matt Miller scored 22 points and John Hardin cruised to its most lopsided win of the season Monday over visiting Thomas Nelson, 67-16.

Sophomore guard Devonta Guillory and freshman forward Mickey Pearson each scored eight points, while junior guard Jacobi Smith scored seven.

  • GIRLS' PREP HOOPS:...

Chalk one up for Tim Mudd.

Elizabethtown’s girls’ basketball coach had his top-ranked Lady Panthers convinced Monday they were in trouble. As soon as his players arrived for what they thought would be practice Monday, Mudd told them they were being investigated by the KHSAA for point shaving.
