STUDENT SPOTLIGHT and Shane Yates and Skylar Yates Welcome to a special two-for-one interview combining a “FLASHBACK” for Shane Yates, and a “SPOTLIGHT” on his daughter, Skylar Yates, a fourth-grader at Vine Grove Elementary School. Shane is the Fort Knox Aquatics Director for MWR. Twenty years ago, he played a very different role. “When I was cast for Michael in the play Peter Pan, I got to experience flying on stage.” In addition to his duties on post, Shane spent last week backstage at the PAC literally learning the ropes all over again, so he can fly his daughter in Allegro Dance Theatre’s Matilda Jr. Skylar has participated in other Allegro productions and recitals, but this is her first time flying, and also her first chance to work with her dad at the PAC. “It’s fun and hard work,” she shared. Shane feels the PAC is important because “it helps kids express themselves through theater and dance and gives Hardin County students another experience besides the typical sports.” Skylar, who wants to be an interior designer when she grows up, thinks the PAC has helped her toward that goal because she gets to “see costumes and different props and stage sets” and “without the PAC, I wouldn’t get to fly like my dad or even perform.” BECAUSE ALL THE WORLD’S A STAGE Supported by Skaggs Limousine & Transportation CALL OR CLICK FOR INFO & TIX (270) 769-8837 www.thepac.net
