The Elizabethtown Area Christian Women’s Connection hosted an autumn leaves themed luncheon Sept. 13 at The Home of Philanthropy in Elizabethtown. The luncheon was attended by 37 members from Elizabethtown, Radcliff, Vine Grove, Hodgenville, Cecilia and Leitchfield.

We were blessed with sacred renditions of “Untitled Hymn” and “You Raise Me Up” performed by vocalist Emory Riley. Riley has served as the senior adult pastor as well as leads the worship and senior adult choirs at Severns Valley Baptist Church.

Special feature was the director of the Community Health Clinic, Venus Cornette. The CHC serves Hardin, LaRue, Meade, Breckinridge and Grayson counties. Cornette shared the mission of “providing basic health care, dental care, prescription assistance, advocacy and education to the uninsured and underinsured” in the aforementioned counties. Donations and volunteers always are needed.

The Inspirational speaker was Jennifer Nickel, sharing “Is This the Adventure I Signed Up For?” Nickel shared her personal challenges in marriage and her career and how things do not always turn out the way we plan. God’s plan was to help overcome those challenges and lead her family to Ireland for missionary work. Her commitment to her family and God have gotten her this far on her adventure, as we all lean on him.

The next luncheon is Nov. 8 at the Home of Philanthropy. Members will host the annual happy shopping holiday auction fundraiser.
