Each year, the national Headquarters for MOAA holds the Colonel Marin J. Harris Communication Award Contest to identify MOAA councils/chapters that do an outstanding job communicating with members and the community. Ninety-six chapters received five-star awards for their exemplary communication efforts to include the Fort Knox Area MOAA Chapter.
The reason for this distinguished recognition is personified in the editorship of Donna March, known to chapter president as WE, worth editor. Through her expertise in newsletter publication and Board of Director interface she influences membership growth, legislative action issues for influence to Congress by members, comprehensive calendar of events, quality of life issues, Veteran health care and benefit updates and social interaction of the organization to include annual fundraisers for the purpose of charitable distributions each year.
With an organization with many dynamics that affect attendance, her newsletter known as the Chapter Chatter floods the information gap to insure members are aware of where we have been and where we are going on a monthly basis.
As a board of director for more than 12 years and president the last five years of the Fort Knox Chapter, Mark J. Kelly has witnessed her overseeing of the publication for more than seven years and benefited as each member does through her efforts. It is with great pride, members announce the Highest Five Star Award of the Colonel Marvin J. Harris for Excellence in Communications 2018 to Donna March.
March and her spouse retired Lt. Col. Al March are retired from Fort Knox and reside in Elizabethtown.
