Multiple LaRue County churches are partnering this holiday season to present a drive-thru nativity experience.

The event, including scenes from the Gospel, focusing on the birth of Christ, will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 4 and Dec. 6 at First Baptist Church in Hodgenville.

Partner churches arre Ovesen Heights Baptist Church, South Fork Baptist Church, Mt. Tabor Baptist Church and Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.

Cole Hughes, associate pastor of family ministries at FBC Hodgenville, said the scenes will feature live actors and animals. He said there will be an audio guide to access online that will explain the scenes as visitors go through it.

Hughes said this is the first time the churches have come together to host this event. Normally, he said his congregation would hold a big Christmas program and a fairly large Christmas Eve service.

With the goal of keeping people safe during the COVID-19 pandemic, he said the idea was developed to host a drive-thru nativity experience. He touted the churches coming together to make it happen.

“It’s definitely a blessing,” he said, noting each church took on scenes.

He said he knows people are missing different opportunities because of COVID while trying their best to stay away from exposure. This is an opportunity they don’t have to miss.

Hughes said the experience shouldn’t take long to go through. He said the event is “open to anyone and everyone.”

“It’s a great thing for people to do as a family,” he said.
