A 70-year-old Radcliff woman was arrested Tuesday afternoon and charged with assaulting a police officer.
Decie L. Sheroan, 70, allegedly hit the officer’s hand multiple times while being placed in handcuffs, according to a citation from Radcliff police. The document said she “attempted to cause officer pain or injury with her actions.”
The incident occurred after a reported neighborhood dispute. According to the citation, Sheroan caused a disturbance by screaming obscenities at her neighbor. Sheroan ignored multiple requests by police to cease the disorderly behavior, according to the citation. After being told she was being arrested for second-degree disorderly conduct, she allegedly smacked the officer’s hands.
Sheroan was charged with third-degree assault of a police officer, which is Class D felony, punishable by one to five years in prison. She also is charged with second-degree disorderly conduct.
Sheroan was lodged Tuesday evening in the Hardin County Detention Center and released on a $500 cash bond Wednesday afternoon. She is expected to appear June 10 in Hardin District Court.
