A Campbellsville man remained in the Hardin County Detention Center Monday afternoon after he was arrested by Elizabethtown police for reportedly striking a Hardin County EMT early Sunday morning.

Michael James Aumiller, 34, is charged with felony assault after he reportedly struck an EMT in an emergency room of Baptist Health Hardin, according to an arrest citation.

Aumiller was located at RaceTrac on East Dixie Avenue by Elizabethtown police with facial injuries and was heavily intoxicated, the citation stated. He then was transported by Hardin EMS to Baptist Health Hardin.

He reportedly kept spitting at EMTs so he was placed in a spit hood. He kept trying to remove the spit hood. Aumiller then reportedly struck an EMT with an Elizabethtown police officer in the room with them.

He is charged with third-degree assault of an EMS employee — a Class D felony punishable by one to five years in prison, if convicted.

Aumiller is being held on a $2,500 cash bond. He is scheduled to appear Jan. 21 in Hardin District Court.
