An Elizabethtown man was arrested early Thursday morning for raping a woman at knifepoint at a local motel, according to an arrest citation.
Ryan William Patterson, 31, is being held in lieu of a $50,000 cash bond in the Hardin County Detention Center. He will be arraigned today in Hardin District Court.
According to the citation, Elizabethtown police responded to Motel 6 on North Mulberry Street at 9:24 p.m. Wednesday after the woman called police.
Police say Patterson reportedly held a knife to the woman’s throat as he raped her in the room. He also said “he would kill her” if she screamed, the arrest citation said.
The woman was taken to Baptist Health Hardin for treatment, Elizabethtown Police Department spokesman Chris Denham said.
When police arrived at the motel, Patterson was there. Denham said he still was in possession of a knife and was “combative” as he was arrested.
Patterson is charged with first-degree rape – domestic violence, a Class B felony punishable by 10 to 20 years in prison, if convicted, and first-degree wanton endangerment, a Class D felony punishable by one to five years in prison, if convicted.
