E’town man indicted on strangulation charge

An Elizabethtown man arrested in July after a reported altercation with his girlfriend has been indicted on a felony assault charge by a Hardin County grand jury.

Christopher DeGraff, 47, of Eliza­beth­town, was in­dict­ed for first-­degree strang­ulation, a Class C felony punish­able by five to 10 years in prison, if convicted, and fourth-degree assault, domestic violence.

According to an arrest citation, the woman struck DeGraff with her fists and then he restrained her. During the altercation, he grabbed her arms and caused bruising to her biceps, the citation said.

When Elizabethtown police arrived, she was on the ground. She told police DeGraff had wrapped his arm around her neck and choked her, the document said.
