A car collision Monday in Grayson County led to the recovery of a stolen vehicle and the arrest of a Hardin County man.
At approximately 6:30 a.m., Grayson County Lt. Sonny Poteet responded to the 5900 block of Shrewsbury Road on the report of a single-vehicle crash. The vehicle’s two occupants fled the scene of the crash, according to the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office.
Poteet’s investigation revealed the driver, Brian Lee Cato, 37, of Eastview, had gone to a residence near the crash site. During the investigation, it was discovered the wrecked vehicle had been reported stolen from Hardin County, the sheriff’s office said.
Cato reportedly admitted to Poteet he stole and crashed the vehicle, according to radio station K105.
Cato was lodged in the Grayson County Detention Center where he was charged with receiving stolen property more than $10,000 and driving on a suspended or revoked license.
Cato’s arrest was the third in Grayson County in the last week involving vehicle thefts.
