An Elizabethtown man was arrested Wednesday on charges related to child sexual abuse material.
Ali Saifullah, 18, was arrested by the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch as the result of an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children investigation. The KSP Electronic Crime Branch began the investigation after discovering images of child sexual exploitation shared online.
According to the arrest citation, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in June provided a tip regarding a suspect uploading three images of child sexual abuse material on Discord, a social media app used to post text, pictures and video.
According to the report, investigators reviewed the images and discovered two featured a girl under 6 years of age. In the photo, the report said the female was being sexually assaulted by an unknown adult male.
The third image was of a female child, who appeared to be younger than 12, and was shown being forced to perform a sex act, the warrant said.
Once investigators confirmed the reported images were child sexual abuse material, they executed a search warrant on the Discord account. It was determined the account belonged to Saifullah, police said. According to the report, investigators were able to trace the IP address, phone number and email address used to open the account to Saifullah and his home.
In addition to the three original images, the warrant said eight additional photos were discovered including images from Saifullah’s home.
Equipment used to facilitate the crime was seized and taken to KSP’s forensic laboratory for examination, a KSP news release said. The investigation is ongoing.
Saifullah was charged with three counts of distribution of matter portraying sexual performance by minor. These charges are Class D felonies punishable by one to five years in prison.
Saifullah was lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center. He was released Thursday on a $10,000 cash bond. He is scheduled to appear Oct. 15 in Hardin Circuit Court.
