Glasgow man indicted after pushing officer

BLYTHE

A Glasgow man charged in July with nearly hitting a woman with his car on an Elizabethtown street and then pushing a Hardin County sheriff’s deputy has been indicted on multiple felony charges by a Hardin County grand jury.

Andrew Blythe, 36, was arrested July 7 after reportedly driving at a high rate of speed on Alexander Drive when a woman had to jump off the road to avoid being struck. The woman estimated Blythe was driving about 90 mph on a residential street, according to an arrest citation.

When Blythe was found by authorities, he allegedly pushed a deputy to the ground as he was being placed in the back of a sheriff’s vehicle. Blythe also allegedly struck a mailbox that night, according to the citation.

Blythe is being charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, third-degree assault, second offense operating a motor vehicle under the influence of intoxicants and second-degree criminal mischief.

First-degree wanton endangerment and third-degree assault are Class D felonies, punishable by one to five years in prison each, if convicted.

Blythe is lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center on a $5,000 cash bond. He is expected to appear Tuesday in Hardin Circuit Court.
