An Elizabethtown man was arrested Thursday on 27 felony counts relating to child pornography, according to Kentucky State Police.
Matthew H. Lewis, 53, was arrested as part of an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children investigation by Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch.
Lewis is charged with 20 counts of distribution of matter portraying a minor in a sexual performance and seven counts of possession of matter portraying a minor in a sexual performance. All charges are Class D felonies punishable by one to five years in prison, if convicted.
The KSP Electronic Crime Branch began the investigation after discovering the suspect sharing images of child sexual exploitation online, according to a KSP news release.
A search warrant was issued for Lewis’ residence and equipment possibly used to facilitate the crime was seized, according to the release. The devices reportedly were taken to KSP’s forensic laboratory for examination.
The investigation is ongoing.
Lewis is lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center. His bond amount was not set as of Thursday night.
He is scheduled to appear at 8:30 a.m. today in Hardin District Court.
