Missouri man charged with theft of Altec truck

A Missouri man has been arrested and charged with stealing a nearly $200,000 truck in January he was scheduled to deliver from Elizabethtown.

Derrell Duret, 32, of Florissant, Missouri, was booked Thursday into the Hardin County Detention Center and is being held in lieu of a partially secured $200,000 bond.

According to an arrest warrant, Duret was an employee of Quality Drive Away. He was supposed to drive a 2020 Altec Ford F550 truck from Elizabethtown to Oregon on Jan. 4.

Duret picked up the vehicle, but did not transport it to Oregon and was paid for the delivery, the warrant says. Duret was contacted several times about the truck, valued at $181,417.62, and he “would not reveal the exact location of the vehicle,” according to the warrant.

He is charged with theft by unlawful taking of a vehicle more than $10,000 and less tan $1 million – a Class C felony punishable by five to 10 years in prison, if convicted.

He is scheduled to appear Monday in Hardin District Court.
