A Rineyville man was arrested Wednesday night and charged with assaulting a woman a day earlier.
Roger Lee Gipson, 52, was arrested on a warrant by a Hardin County sheriff’s deputy. He is charged with second-degree assault – domestic violence, a Class C felony punishable by five to 10 years in prison, if convicted.
According to an arrest warrant issued Wednesday morning, Gipson became angry at an adult female when she wouldn’t talk to him around 3:15 p.m. Tuesday at a residence. He then began to punch her in the head and face.
When she walked away into the kitchen, Gipson reportedly knocked her down and “beat her head on the floor and punched her some more,” according to the warrant.
She left the residence when she was let up.
The woman suffered a broken wrist and had bleeding from both ears, the warrant said. She was taken to the Baptist Health Hardin hospital for treatment.
A $25,000 cash bond was recommended for Gipson, according to the warrant. Hardin District Court records indicate bond was lowered to $10,000 cash at his appearance Thursday morning.
He is lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear Oct. 12 for a preliminary hearing in district court.
