Elizabethtown police are looking for two suspects wanted in connection with a Monday afternoon theft in Elizabethtown.

Elizabethtown Police Department spokesman Chris Denham said shortly before 4 p.m. Monday two Black males entered Clark Jewelers on West Poplar Street and began looking at merchandise. The men then distracted employees, police said, and grabbed various jewelry items and ran out of the store.

Denham said the items were valued at “several thousand dollars.”

Denham said the suspects face charges of theft by unlawful taking, shoplifting. If the value of the items is less than $10,000, the charge will be a Class D felony punishable by one to five years in prison, if convicted. If the value is more than $10,000, the charge will be a Class C felony punishable by five to 10 years in prison, if convicted.

It is not classified as a robbery because there was no use of force nor weapon involved, Denham said.
