Normal operations continue at the county’s independent school district.
During the instructional focus section of the Elizabethtown Independent Schools Board of Education meeting Monday, Assistant Superintendent of student learning Chase Goff broke down the results for the Kentucky summative assessments in the district.
With the current 2021-22 scores, it was determined the district overall was in the “yellow” category in the accountability test scores, which is right in the middle.
All of the schools were in this section, except for Elizabethtown High School which was in the “green” section, the second to highest level.
Goff said they should celebrate the fact that the district has returned to pre-COVID levels of achievement.
However, he said they should focus on improving curriculum, supports for special education students and writing plans. He also said decisions the district makes shouldn’t just be made to game the accountability but because they are the right thing to do for students.
Brian Woosley of Heartland CPAs and Advisors presented the annual financial audit to the board and said the audit “ran smoothly.” He reported the general cash fund increased from last year with $5.2 million to $6 million. He said federal funding in the past few years among the district and other institutions is “enormous.”
