Feeding America, Kentucky’s Heartland, has received a $55,000 donation from Altria and its subsidiary U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company.

A company news release said it is making the donation because food banks throughout the nation are facing unprecedented demands during the coronavirus pandemic.

Altria and USSTC have a decades-long connection with tobacco growers and the agriculture community in the Elizabethtown area and all 42 counties served by FAKH.

“Caring for each other and doing what’s right is core to our company,” said Jennifer Hunter, senior vice president of corporate citizenship for Altria Client Services. “Circumstances are changing quickly and we will respond to our communities’ needs accordingly.”
