Kat’s Mobile Kitchen is offering free meals to seniors.

Owner Kat Hennemut said they are giving certain meals — a smoked sausage combo, grilled chicken hoagie combo, sourdough grilled cheese combo or the schnitzel sandwich combo — to anybody 65 or older.

“We’ve had several seniors take advantage of it today,” she said Tuesday.

One of those people enjoying the food as the food truck was set up outside Feeders Supply on Ring Road in Elizabethtown was Cecilia resident Jessie Cottrill.

“It’s nice that they’re doing this for seniors,” Cottrill said.

Hennemut said they understand now is a scary time for older people with the COVID-19 pandemic.

“A lot of them are income-based and I’ve read several stories about how they’re having issues on stocking up on groceries and things like that,” she said. “We wanted to do something for them, make their life a little easier right now, considering how scary times are especially for them.

Hennemut said the plan is to offer the free meals to seniors for at least one week. For dates and locations of where Kat’s Mobile Kitchen will be set up, go to the Facebook page @katsmobilekitchen.
