Presbyterian Homes and Services of Kentucky plans to operate a personal care facility in Elizabethtown as a not-for-profit facility.
A ceremonial groundbreaking is scheduled for 3 p.m. Wednesday at 106 Diecks Drive for the renamed Presbyterian Homes Helmwood. The public is invited.
“Since 1987, Helmwood has served the Elizabethtown area. It is still beautiful, viable and making a difference,” said Hattie Wagner, CEO of PHSK. “This is an opportunity to add to that great work and meet the needs of the community for another 30 years and beyond.”
Presbyterian Homes said in a news release it will strive to meet a need among seniors for housing and services that allow an independent lifestyle yet provide assistance with daily activities and medical management. It plans to expand Helmwood’s lower level to create 17 personal care and housing units and open concept community gathering areas.
“The expanded facility will include a tribute to Elizabeth Sanford Swope and beautiful wall art honoring the community members that helped bring this project to life,” Wagner said.
