A two-vehicle crash Friday morning in Radcliff left one person injured and shut down Dixie Boulevard to allow for air medical evacuation services to land.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Ky. 313, Joe Prather Highway, where a driver of a black Toyota Tundra struck a white Chevrolet Traverse who pulled in his path, the truck’s driver said.

A Fort Knox soldier said he was driving north on Dixie when the Traverse crossed into his path. He said he saw the vehicle too late to avoid a collision.

The soldier said he had the day off from work on post and was returning from a morning playing with his dog Delta at the park.

“I’m just glad I had the seatbelt leash on her,” he said, adding his lab-shepherd mix, was shaken up but otherwise uninjured from what he could tell.

According to Radcliff Police Chief Jeff Cross, the crash occurred at 9:21 a.m. and the road was closed until 10:14 a.m.

The woman driver of the Traverse was not believed to have life-threatening injuries, Cross said.

The crash still is under investigation.
