Three people were arrested Wednesday afternoon in Elizabethtown as part of an investigation into a homicide Tuesday in Bardstown.
At the request of the Bardstown Police Department, detectives with the Elizabethtown Police Department as well as the department's Special Response Team assisted Bardstown PD with the apprehension of Andrew D. Toogood, 19, Dominik C. Woods, 19, and Brittney Childers, 22.
Toogood is charged with murder. Woods and Childers are charged with complicity to commit murder.
George D. Riney, 20, was found shot Tuesday in the 200 block of Camptown Road in Bardstown. He died at University of Louisville Hospital later in the day.
The three were arrested in the 300 block of Jefferson Street in Elizabethtown. They were in a house on the street and surrendered without incident, police say.
"Due to the close proximity between the target residence and T.K. Stone and Morningside (schools), we did notify the school and request that they temporarily restrict students and staff from leaving," EPD spokesman Chris Denham said. "This was done as a proactive measure and at no time were any students or staff members at risk. Obviously we don’t like to inconvenience anyone but are very comfortable and willing to do so when it mitigates what could potentially be a substantial risk."
