A Cecilia mother, who told police she was “frustrated,” was arrested Thursday afternoon by Kentucky State Police after she was captured on video shaking her 4-month-old child.
Ashley Cannon, 24, is charged with one count of first-degree wanton endangerment, a Class D felony punishable by one to five years in prison, if convicted.
The reported incident happened at 2:43 a.m. March 10.
According to an arrest citation, Cannon and her child were staying at a friend’s home that is equipped with indoor cameras and video showed the child being shaken. The video was discovered Wednesday night, according to the report.
KSP contacted Kentucky Child Protective Services and an investigation began Thursday. Cannon admitted to shaking her child because she was frustrated, the citation said.
The child was taken to Norton Children’s Hospital for a forensic examination and then placed in the care of a family member.
The state police investigation is ongoing.
Cannon is being held in lieu of a partially secured $10,000 bond in the Hardin County Detention Center. She is scheduled to appear April 3 in Hardin District Court.
