A train derailment tonight in Colesburg has forced the evacuation of many area residents and temporarily shutdown Interstate 65.

Emergency personnel from multiple agencies responded to the scene. There reportedly were some train cars that had dropped into a creek.

Officials were clearing the scene with some firefighters going door-to-door to get residents to leave. The evacuation was over a one-mile radius due to agencies not knowing what they train was carrying when it derailed, an official said.

I-65 was closed from exit 105 to exit 91 in both directions for about an hour.
