A Hardin County man charged in a Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol was booked Tuesday afternoon into the Oldham County Detention Center.
Michael Nelson Sparks, 43, has been charged with federal crimes of unlawful entry, disorderly conduct and obstructing law enforcement in U.S. District Court.
The booking at the jail lists Sparks’ town of residence as Cecilia. Federal court documents listed his residence as Elizabethtown.
According to the jail, Sparks was booked at 3:32 p.m. and that he was arrested by the FBI. No court date or bond information was listed.
Sparks is charged in connection with entering the Capitol through a broken window during an attack and that he also confronted a U.S. Capitol police officer.
According to an affidavit, Sparks was turned in to the FBI’s National Threat Operations Center by three different people.
The affidavit included 10 photographs that are believed to be of Sparks, including two of him entering a Capitol window and another confronting a U.S. Capitol police officer.
Sparks is one of at least four people from Kentucky arrested related to the attack.
