A Louisville man was arrested Thursday and charged with an early morning double homicide in the Garfield community of Breckinridge County.
Kentucky State Police Post 4 was contacted shortly after 1 a.m. CDT Thursday by the Breckinridge County Sheriff’s Department seeking help with a death investigation.
Police said Steven R. Gann, 45, of Garfield, and Jacob R. Loeffler, 26, of Elizabethtown, had been shot multiple times at a residence on Blackberry Circle Lane in Garfield. They were pronounced deceased at the scene by the Breckinridge County Coroner’s Office. Autopsies has been scheduled at the Kentucky Medical Examiner’s Office in Louisville.
With the assistance of the BCSO, KSP detectives were able to locate the suspect, Montez D. Johnson, 28, at an apartment complex on Ledgewood Parkway in Louisville.
Kentucky State Police’s Special Response Team responded to the scene and with the assistance of Louisville Metro Police Department’s SWAT team was able to apprehend Johnson without incident.
Johnson was charged with murder and later was lodged in the Breckinridge County Detection Center.
