The search for a missing kayaker at Freeman Lake is resuming this morning.

The search began shortly after the Elizabethtown Fire Department received a call at 3:43 p.m. Tuesday regarding a kayaker in distress and search efforts continued until 2 a.m. Wednesday..

The area where it is believed an adult male was last seen was searched "thoroughly" according to an Elizabethtown Police Department news release and he was not located.

EPD spokesman Chris Denham said authorities were unsure of what led to the kayaker entering the water. The kayah was located.

The Louisville Metro Police Dive Team entered the water around 7 p.m. to aid in the search.

Other agencies involved in the search have been the Elizabethtown Police Department, Hardin County EMS, Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Campbellsville Fire Department.

Freeman Lake Park on the lake side will remain closed as the search continues.

EPD has scheduled a 2:30 p.m. news conference for today.
