Congressman describes bill’s value

I want to take a moment to highlight the recently passed Fiscal Year 2020 National Defense Authorization Act. This important legislation is great news for Fort Knox: It gives our troops a well-deserved pay raise and improves military housing policies. Additionally, the NDAA also gives federal civilian employees 12 weeks of paid parental leave beginning October 2020.

This was a top priority for President Donald Trump and for Ivanka Trump, who has spearheaded paid family leave and child care policies to provide flexibility in order to help more parents stay in the workforce. This new policy will benefit the more than 5,000 civilian government employees at Fort Knox.

President Trump signed it into law Dec. 20.

I am proud to represent Fort Knox in Congress and I look forward to supporting future legislation that benefits the soldiers and the civilians working at Fort Knox.

U.S. Rep. Brett Guthrie

2nd Congressional District
