Upset about efforts to suppress voting
In 2021, lawmakers in Republican-controlled state legislatures are making laws to make it difficult for people of color to vote in future elections. his is unAmerican, unjust, undemocratic, unbelievable!
I am in my 84th year of life and always thought our country was better than this. When Barack Obama took office in 2009, I remember thinking how awful Sen. Mitch McConnell’s public statement, “We are going to make him a one-term president” was.
Now, obstructionist McConnell, who has every Republican Senator under his thumb, is saying they will vote no on the Biden administration’s proposals. For the Party of Donald Trump, moving the country forward positively is secondary to wanting America to be a dictatorship under another Trump presidency or a wannabe Trump-like president.
I hope and pray a large number of Republicans of sound mind, truthful hearts and goodwill will begin to speak out boldly against what’s destroying the GOP and our country’s “justice for all” democracy.
For democracy to survive and thrive, we need two strong political parties.
A party that attempts to suppress the vote in particular states is weak, not strong.
