Proud accomplishment for community

I would like to submit my appreciation to the SAR/DAR societies that assembled a magnificent tribute to Hardin County’s Revolutionary War dead. This was a terrific exercise of remembrance involving the validation of the veterans’ records. The volunteer effort that went into this program was a monumental effort.

The leadership of the SAR and DAR most notably Joyce Miller and Sharon Williams took the responsibility to ensure that the records were accurate, meeting DAR standards. In true DAR fashion, these two ladies rose to the dedication of their positions leaving a lasting tribute that will exist for generations to come.

The event was very well attended and was substantially enhanced by the mayor’s office and parks department who provided the location and infrastructure. Keith Monument Co. provided the obelisk bearing the names of all 247 veterans. Without their participation this event could not have happened.

Elizabethtown can be justifiably proud of their commitment to honor its Revolutionary War veterans.
