Radcliff man backing E’town candidate

Although I do not reside in Elizabethtown, I would be remiss if I did not say a complementary word on behalf of Julia Springsteen.

First, if I were a resident of Elizabethtown, I would support her candidacy for city council wholeheartedly. As many of my friends in Elizabethtown know, I have and continue serve on various commissions, committees and boards in Radcliff and Hardin County. I have had the pleasure to serve with many fine people in Hardin County, but not for personal gain. I’m a “people helping people” person. Julia Springsteen is that kind of person.

We have served together and discussed many issues concerning our communities no matter if the main issue is a north or south end of Hardin County. Julie loves our county, our cities and the people residing within our borders.

I encourage Elizabethtown residents to support Julia. You will not be disappointed.

Try to identify Biden’s achievements

What important item has Vice President Joe Biden ever accomplished?

Here we are a few days from a very important election of the president of the United States. During the presidential debate, one of the most striking statements by a candidate was President Trump informing Vice President Biden that he had done more in his four years than the VP had done in his 47 years of government service. Later I got to thinking about that and while I may not have the statement exactly correct the gist is correct. That caused me to start questioning what exactly did VP Biden ever accomplish in his 47 years as that is a long, long time.

In summary, even though he did become vice president, Mr. Biden did not accomplish very much. However, after reviewing things I have one question that I am left with. It is as follows.

Sen. Biden chaired the Senate Committee that confirmed Justice Clarence Thomas. Chairman Biden did not want Thomas to become Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas for some reason and Justice Thomas was treated very badly.

To understand how badly, Sen. Biden and the Democrats treated Justice Thomas feel free to Google the incident and view all the confirmation videos and briefs available. Justice Thomas has provided excellent service to the court and I believe he may be the longest tenured justice on the current court.

Now to my question.

Why would any person ever vote for VP Biden after the way he and the rest of the Democrats treated Justice Thomas during his confirmation hearing?

Look at details in McConnell’s record

In August 2019, the House voted to raise the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2025. McConnell refused a vote on the bill in the Senate. Thanks to Mitch McConnell, the federal minimum wage has been stuck at $7.25 an hour since 2009, the longest time ever without an increase.

McConnell has led more than 70 attempts to repeal, modify or restrict the Affordable Care Act. Repealing the ACA would cause millions of Americans to lose access to health care. In Kentucky alone, more than 486,000 people would lose their health insurance.

McConnell supported three major tax bills that ballooned the national debt from $1.5 trillion in 1984 when McConnell joined the Senate to more than $28 trillion today.

The budget deficit has increased 77 percent since McConnell became majority leader in 2015. McConnell has said that the only way to lower the record-high federal deficit would be to cut entitlement programs like Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.

McConnell was worth $3.1 million in 2004 and according to the Center for Responsive Politics, as quote by the Washington Post, his net worth is now more than $34 million, a tenfold increase in the last 16 years. His salary as Senate Majority Leader is $193,400 a year. But McConnell believes millions of hardworking Americans deserve no more than $7.25 an hour.

After 36 years of McConnell in the Senate, Kentucky is listed as the 46th poorest state in the nation with a poverty rate of 16.9 percent.

Thirty-six years is long enough. It’s time for a change. It’s time for Amy McGrath.

Just a quick fact check from USA Today. Since Ronald Reagan every republican has started a recession and the democrat that followed oversaw the recovery. That is going to hold true with trump as well. Look at job losses, small business closures etc. Never mind his failed Covid response that has caused those losses.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/chuckdevore/2019/03/11/trumps-policy-magic-wand-boosts-manufacturing-jobs-399-in-first-26-months-over-obamas-last-26/#4ae8aac120a6 More Democrat falsehoods. Just look this up. Trump created 4 times the number of manufacturing jobs in the first 26 months of his administration than Hussein did in the last 26 months of his. That's 400%, not 5% or 10% but 400%. Remember Hussein saying that the manufacturing jobs are gone but not coming back? I do. Look it up.

How Judge Thomas was treated has nothing to do with Biden's qualifications for President. One of Biden's accomplishments was the economic recovery after Bush left the country in a recession and handed it off to Obama/Biden. They recovered the economy and saved jobs. The economy was still on the upswing when trump took it over and took all the credit. As you say, just look it up. The affordable care act which has helped so many Americans, even the republican controlled house, senate and white house couldn't repeal it because it was working so well. So now they are in the courts and trump just stacked the court with another lackey. Republican's are liars and cannot follow their own rules much less anyone else's. McConnell rule: no supreme court nominations during election year, let the people decide. Yet they are cramming this nomination down the throats of Americans while voting is going on. Polls show 75% of Americans think it should wait until after he election and they should be working on covid relief bills. Such hypocrites. sad sad Biden will restore some honesty and dignity to the office of the Presidency, and trump will take his place in a jail cell for treason(Russian collusion) tax fraud, tax evasion, abuse of power and what ever else the investigations find on him and his family.

According to CNN, " Thomas' view of the Constitution would lead to reversal of abortion rights, the elimination of gun regulations and deminishment of press rights. Last year, he also expressed doubt about the constitutional underpinnings of a 1963 landmark guaranteeing that criminal defendants too poor to hire their own lawyer are appointed counsel." Thomas is firmly on the side of the fat cats -- reason enough to oppose him. One good reason to vote for Biden is that he's not Trump. Another reason is that he might actually go to sleep after being elected so we don't have to worry about what he might do.
