The North Hardin boys’ basketball team got back in the win column Friday night. Taking on Breckinridge County, the Trojans returned home with a 71-58 road victory over the Tigers.

Taveon Smith led the way with 27 points. Shaun Boykins Jr. and Dontrell Gregory both added 14 points. Jujuan Williams picked up nine points. Jalen Alfonso followed with three points, just ahead of Darius Wiley and Dyce Harding with two points each.

North Hardin (6-9) heads to John Hardin for a 17th District matchup at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

JOHN HARDIN 84, EVANSVILLE REITZ 72. The Bulldogs bounced back from Monday’s Kentucky 2A Section 3 final loss to LaRue County with a win over Francis Joseph Reitz High School of Evansville, Indiana Friday.

AJ Doctor finished with 25 points to lead the John Hardin offense, just ahead of Jalen Tyus with 24 points. Devon Rogers recorded 17 points. Jake Owens followed with 10 points. Lorenz Hollenquest added six points. Corey Brown had two points.

John Hardin (11-6) hosts North Hardin at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

MEADE COUNTY 68, HANCOCK COUNTY 29. The Lady Waves made it seven straight wins with a home victory over the Lady Hornets Friday evening.

Peyton Bradley was Meade County’s top scorer with 15 points. Aubrey Hardesty followed with 10 points. Katie Durbin, Sage Crawley and Mattie Clanton all scored eight points, just ahead of Paige Medley and Kacie Ray with seven points and six points, respectively. Anna Belle Babb added four points. Alex Keifer had two points.

Bradley was also the Lady Waves’ leading rebounder with six total, just ahead of Hardesty with five.

Meade County (14-5) travels to Louisville to take on Mercy at 6 p.m. Monday.
