The battle for the 17th District continues tonight in Cecilia when No. 6 Elizabethtown makes the trek to visit Central Hardin.
The undefeated Lady Panthers come in with a 6-0 record, taking care of Mercy 68-57 last Friday in their most recent game. The Lady Bruins enter the game at 2-2, fresh off a 64-60 win over South Warren on Wednesday.
Both teams are 1-0 in 17th District play, with Elizabethtown defeating North Hardin 65-41 on Jan. 11 and Central Hardin opening its season with a 62-46 victory over John Hardin the same day.
Through their first six games, the Lady Panthers have been led in scoring by Leah Macy. So far, the eighth grader has amassed 128 points with an average of 21.3 per game. Macy has also been the team’s top rebounder, with 96 of Elizabethtown’s 248. She has averaged 16 rebounds per game through the team’s first six contests.
Other notable scorers for the Lady Panthers include senior Kayra Freeman, who has put up 99 points thus far with an average of 16.5 per game. Sophomore Kenzie Franklin is third on the team’s scoring list thus far, with 46 points and 7.7 per game.
The Lady Bruins have been led in scoring by junior Monica Lindsey, with 53 points thus far for an average of 13.2 through the team’s first four games. Sister and fellow junior Alyssa Lindsey is next at 34 points for an average of 8.5 per game, just ahead of senior Kaniya Kendricks at 33 points and an average of 8.2 per game.
Senior Kaiden Kendricks has been Central Hardin’s leading rebounder, coming into tonight’s game with 19 for an average of 4.8 per game. Sister Kaniya Kendricks and Monica Lindsey each have 18 for an average of 4.5 per game.
Elizabethtown and Central Hardin will get things started tonight at 7 p.m.
