LaRue County softball bounced back from Tuesday’s home loss to Breckinridge County with a 5-1 road victory Friday over the Lady Colonels.
The team finished with seven hits, led by Kelsey Hornback with two. Isabelle Hayes had two of the Lady Hawks’ four RBIs.
Kaitlyn Rucker pitched all seven innings, striking out 15 and allowing just two hits, one run and four walks.
GREENWOOD 1, CENTRAL HARDIN 0. A single run in the bottom of the second inning was all the Lady Gators needed to hand the Lady Bruins a loss Friday at the Owensboro Catholic Classic. Kelsey Waters had Central Hardin’s only hit of the night.
Eleecia Hager pitched five innings for the Lady Bruins and ended the night with three strikeouts, three hits, a run and a walk. The game came to a close after the top of the sixth inning.
ASSUMPTION 9, MEADE CO. 8. The Lady Waves came out on the losing end of a close one at home against the Lady Rockets Friday. No statistics on the game were made available.
WHITEFIELD ACADEMY 17, FORT KNOX 3. The Lady Eagles remained winless after their Friday game against the Lady Wildcats. No statistics on the game were made available.
LARUE CO. 13, HART CO. 0. The Hawks didn’t give up a run to the Raiders on the way to a five-inning road win Friday evening.
LaRue County finished with nine hits, with two each from Daniel Snodgrass, Kaleb Graham and Jayson Sanchez. Graham, Sanchez and Jaxson Thomas also had two RBIs each, combining for six of the team’s eight total. Graham and Derek Heath each had three runs.
Brooks Brackett pitched all five innings and finished the game with four strikeouts and three hits.
ELIZABETHTOWN 18, GRAYSON CO. 3. The Panthers needed four innings to wrap up their Friday nightcap game against the Cougars.
Elizabethtown had 12 hits, led by Eli Brown with three. Camden Williams recorded three of the team’s 13 RBIs. Williams and Ryder Gregory had three runs each.
Austin Jennings pitched the first three innings and struck out three while giving up two runs and a walk. Hendrix Thomas came on for an inning and finished with one strikeout, one run and two walks. Neither pitcher gave up a hit.
MEADE CO. 6, BRECKINRIDGE CO. 3. The Green Wave picked up a road win over the Fighting Tigers Friday evening. No statistics on the game were made available.
