North Hardin softball opened the month of May with a pair of home wins Saturday afternoon. Hosting Trinity Whitesville for a doubleheader, the Lady Trojans won the first game 6-3 and followed this up with a 10-4 victory in the second matchup.
In the early game, North Hardin brought in nine hits, with two each from Tone Melton, Emma Corder and Rachel Ritchie. Corder had four of the team’s six RBIs. Ritchie scored two of the Lady Trojans’ runs.
Sydnee Adkisson pitched all seven innings and put up five strikeouts, 11 hits and three runs.
In the late game, North Hardin finished with five hits, with one each from Melton, Corder, Karlee Adkisson, Emilee Fife and Ryleigh Crank. The team had seven RBIs, with two each from Melton and Crank.
Fife pitched six innings, striking out five and giving up 10 hits and three runs. Ashleigh Lirot came on in the seventh inning and allowed a run and a walk.
North Hardin (9-8) travels to Fort Knox for a 5:30 p.m. game Monday.
LADY BRUINS SPLIT DAY. Central Hardin softball was back in action Saturday for the second day of the Owensboro Catholic Classic. The Lady Bruins fell 11-6 to Apollo and then bounced back with a 6-0 win over Villa Grove High School of Villa Grove, Ill.
Against Apollo, Central Hardin had five hits, led by Macey Martin with two. Alyssa Gent had three of the team’s six RBIs.
Kaitlyn Williams pitched four innings, surrendering seven hits and six runs. Jenna Smith pitched for an inning and allowed two hits, five runs and two walks. Neither pitcher recorded a strikeout.
The game came to an end after the top of the sixth inning.
In the late game against Villa Grove, the Lady Bruins connected on eight hits, with two from Smith. Smith also had two of their six RBIs.
Trista Colasanti pitched the first four innings, striking out one and holding Villa Grove to three hits. Skylar Snodgrass pitched two innings and finished with two strikeouts, one hit and one walk.
This game also ended after the top of the sixth inning.
Central Hardin (16-5) hosts Elizabethtown at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
CENTRAL HARDIN WINS ONE, LOSES ONE. The Bruins split their Saturday schedule at the South Warren Lumberjack Classic, defeating Butler County 7-5 and then falling to South Warren 12-2 in five innings. No statistics on either game were made available.
Central Hardin (7-9) hosts St. Xavier at 6 p.m. Monday.
FORT KNOX 10, FORT CAMPBELL 3. The Eagles won their third game of the season with a road win over the Falcons Saturday. No statistics on the game were made available. Fort Knox (3-6) hosts Burgin at 6 p.m. Monday.
EDMONSON CO. 9, JOHN HARDIN 2. The Bulldogs returned home from Edmonson County with a loss to the Wildcats Saturday afternoon. No statistics on the game were made available.
John Hardin (2-12) returns to action on the road against Nelson County at 5:30 p.m. Monday.
CENTRAL HARDIN 8, SOUTH WARREN 7. The Bruins opened the South Warren Lumberjack Classic with a close win over the host Spartans Friday evening. No statistics on the game were made available.
