It is scheduled to rain all day today during the Boys’ 5th Region Golf Tournament at Elizabethtown Country Club.
Central Hardin senior Allan Lockwood is going for an unprecedented fourth straight individual title.
Lockwood tees off at 10:30 a.m. on the 10th hole with Elizabethtown’s Tyler Todd and DeSales’ Andrew Bennett. LaRue County sophomore Carson Childress and Grayson County senior Grant Manion are also in the hunt for the individual championship.
The top three in the running for the team championship are Spencer County, Meade County and Grayson County, who are paired together with times from 9:54 to 10:42 off the first tee.
Manion is paired with Meade County’s Cooper Crump and Spencer County’s Gabe Shelley at 10:42.
The championship team and the top seven individuals not on the winning team qualify for the state tournament at Bowling Green Country Club Oct. 5-7.
The girls tee it up Tuesday on the same layout.
North Hardin is looking for its fourth straight team championship.
The Lady Trojans are led by junior Hailey Coleman, who finished tied for 29th at the Girls’ All-State Championship at the University Club of Kentucky last weekend.
Teammates Ella Scherer, Gabrielle Childers and Holly Hale were also on those championship squads. Rounding out the Lady Trojans’ roster is Mallory Matthews.
North Hardin is paired with Meade County and Central Hardin and will start on the first tee between 9:42 and 10:30 a.m.
Coleman is paired with Meade County’s Haley English and Central Hardin’s Paige Gray.
The championship team and the top seven individuals not on the winning team qualify for the state tournament at Bowling Green Country Club Oct. 8-10.
PANTHERS BLANKED. The Elizabethtown boys’ soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to McCracken County Sunday in the Bruin Classic at the Elizabethtown Sports Park. It snapped a seven-game winning streak.
The Panthers (7-2) visit Trinity at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
TAYLOR TOPS TROJANS. Taylor County handed North Hardin a 2-1 loss Sunday at the Bruin Classic. The Trojans have lost three in a row.
Rakai Handley scored off a Cayden Logsdon assist. Tyler Houchin finished with two saves.
North Hardin (2-6-1) hosts Meade County at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
