Elizabethtown sophomore Jai Garris picked up a pair of championships Sunday at the 15th annual State Farm E’town Tennis Open at the Freeman Lake Tennis Complex.

Garris first paired with Grayson County’s Owen Brown to defeat Elizabethtown seniors Matthew Smith and Abby Henson, 6-4, 6-1 in the Mixed 18 Doubles and then sprinted past Grayson’s Maria Hayes, 6-1, 6-1 to claim the Girls 18 Singles title.

Elizabethtown’s Stuart Jones and Camden Jones knocked off Louisville’s Toby and Randall Clark, 6-4, 7-6 (5) to win the Men’s B Doubles trophy. Jones and Jones beat V Barnes and Matthew Barnes in the semifinals.

In the longest match of the day, Zach Patterson and Rachel Warden outlasted Van Patterson and Amanda Patterson, 7-5, 4-6, 11-9 to capture the Mixed Doubles B championship.

Rineyville’s Susan Simmons also won a pair of doubles titles, teaming with Elizabethtown’s Joe Reed to win the Mixed Open, and with Elizabethtown’s Jennifer Corbin to win the Women’s Open.

Three championship matches did not finish because of a late afternoon storm — Boys’ 18 Singles and Doubles and Men’s 40 Singles.
