Central Hardin volleyball closed out its regular-season schedule with a pair of home wins over Bowling Green and Male Saturday. The Lady Bruins defeated the Purples 3-0, winning by set scores of 25-21, 25-20 and 25-16. Against the Bulldogs, Central Hardin lost the first set 25-21, but rebounded to win the next two by scores of 25-17 and 25-23. After Male took the fourth set 25-19 to tie the match at 2-2, the Lady Bruins held on to win the fifth set 15-10 and earn a 3-2 match victory.

Central Hardin (34-1) opens the 17th District Tournament with a semifinal match against the winner of Monday’s North Hardin-Fort Knox quarterfinal match at 6 p.m. Tuesday. The 17th District Tournament will be held at Central Hardin High School.

MEADE COUNTY WINS TWO. The Lady Waves wrapped up the regular season with victories over Madisonville-North Hopkins and Apollo Saturday.

Meade County defeated Madisonville-North Hopkins 3-0, winning by set scores of 25-13, 25-22 and 25-16.

The Lady Waves took the first set against Apollo 26-24, but the E-gals followed with a 25-19 second set win to tie the match at 1-1. Meade County went on to win the next two sets by scores of 25-16 and 25-10 to finish with a 3-1 match win.

Meade County (18-9) starts the 11th District Tournament with a semifinal match against Hancock County at 7:30 p.m. Monday. The 11th District Tournament will be held at Breckinridge County High School.

ELIZABETHTOWN DROPS TWO AT KENTUCKY SHOWCASE. The Lady Panthers returned home from Lexington with a pair of losses at the Kentucky Showcase Saturday. Elizabethtown fell to tournament host Paul Laurence Dunbar 2-0 by set scores of 25-19 and 25-15. The Lady Panthers followed this with another 2-0 loss, this time to Bryan Station by set scores of 25-21 and 25-23.

Elizabethtown (20-9) kicks off the 17th District Tournament with a semifinal match against John Hardin at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
