5-27 obit CUMMINGS_Henry

Henry Elmer Cummings III, 69, took his last breath on earth and his first breath in Heaven, receiving his ultimate healing on Wednesday, May 24, 2023.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Elmer Cummings Jr. and Dorcas Lucille Keith Cummings; a brother-in-law, Les Honey; sister-in-law, Amanda Brakebill; and his father-in-law, Randy Jackson.

Elmer was a native of Cairo, Illinois, and graduated from Murray State University. He worked in healthcare for more than 30 years, retiring as CFO at Baptist Health Hospital.

Elmer had an extraordinary passion for life. He cared deeply for people more than they ever knew. He was a strong leader, compassionate and generous. He cherished his family. He loved creating memories with them through experiences, traveling and summers at the lake. Elmer loved Jesus, and he shared that love. He had such an appreciation for the beauty of God’s creation and capturing it through photography.

Words will never express how much he will be missed by his wife, Tara Cummings; and daughters, Trinity and Jordin Cummings; son, Adam (Amber) Cummings; his sisters, Cecelia Honey and Sandy (Larry) Potts of Cairo, Illinois; two brothers-in-law, Randell (Erika) Jackson and Brad Brakebill;his nieces and nephews, Ellen Honey (Ira Ehrlich), Josh (Sarah) Potts, Hannah Brakebill, Tyler Jackson, Ellee Jackson and Aubrey Bell.

We will forever be grateful to a special friend and caregiver, Rebecca Wooten. You are family. You treated him like he was your brother.
